Spring is finally here . It is time to crush!!
We have worked on a lot of projects recently and i have not been on top of my blog.
A lot of things are happening.
The MNX50 ( our new Manganese) is giving us a lot of satisfaction on the field and all the effort in R&D finally can materialize.

On June 20th Am Cast is going to held a seminar in Long Island ( stay tuned) on innovation on the aggregate industry.

What to expect from US$ in 2008?

It is a fact the US Dollar is loosing ground against the Euro.
The Greenbacks are expected to be trade at $ 1.4968 this week hitting a record high like in Nov. 23,2007.

Are there some hopes of gaining strength for the US $ ?

If the US escapes from the housing bust and credit crunch without a severe recession the Dollar might be primed to recover when the dust settles later in the year.

Strategist predict that by year's end the dollar will have strengthened modestly against the Euro.

The weakness of U.S. Job report boosted expectation that the FED will lower interest rates and therefore dashed expectation of an early year rally.

Currency movement are difficult to predict.

The question that i leave for you is :

What do you expect for the US$ to be traded against the Euro?

Analyst says that a fair value would be $ 1.20. Do you agree?

Remain a fact that currency movements are very difficult to predict

Moly , FeCr,FeV prices up. What' up??

Not really conforting news around the glob as far as raw material is concerned.
Molybdenum prices rose at the end of last week on thight supply and increased buying from the stainless steel sector.
Contract prices for ferro-chrome are set to rise as high as $1.50 per lbs in 2008 from their curtrent level of $1.00 per lbs.
Beijing is considering raising taxes on Fe-Mo exports by 5%.
Clearly the situation is affecting and going to affect considerably the prices level of finished steel product globally.
Waht to expect next ?

How About Freight Forwarder and Freight Brokers

Let' face it ! We rely on freight company constantly . Tons of goods are shipped everyday from all over the world.
I must say that i am not very happy with the services of my freight forwarder. I have tried to work with several during my career and reluctantly i must say that are all the same.
They are always right we are always wrong !
The fun thing is that we cannot do anything about it ! They have always an excuse : inspection at the border,overweight on the boat,captain decision to leave a container on the ground,bad weather, etc..
I have spoken with several attorney and they tell me always the same thing : " they have such a powerful contract with so many provisions that it is impossible to revenge your right as a customer and request a better service "
The thing that annoy me the most is to depend on those third parties for insure proper delivery to my customers.
Just recently ( being perfect on time with production schedule) i have shipped a container from Italy destination West Coast USA and believe it or not has took 3 months from Italy port to West Cost USA . This is a disgrace !!!
Well , Thank you for your attention and hopefully i will bring a little bit of attention to this matter.

Freight forwarder please pay more attention to the demand and provide a better service in the name of an ethic approach on bossiness.
