It's used in making magnetic steel, in electroplating, and in manufacturing certain types of stainless steel. Radioactive cobalt-60 is used in medicine for treating some cancers.

Cobalt is a prime ingredient in the making of lithium-ion batteries, used in the manufacture of mobile phones, with Apple Inc., a leader in the mobile phone industry, being one of the world's largest end users.
